Who We Are
Practicum site & Supervisor: Resilience Counselling Research and Consultation and Dr. Amjed Abojedi
Melissa is currently a Master’s level MA in counselling psychology practicum student who is qualified to practice under the clinical supervision of an approved practicum supervisor.
I strongly believe in the power of psychotherapy to help people manage their struggles and live a more fulfilling life. My approach to therapy is integrative and draws on several theoretical frameworks, including person-centred therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, attachment theory, self-compassion, and mindfulness. I also use cognitive, behavioural, and solution-focused interventions to help clients develop goals and maintain healthy relationships with themselves and others.
My previous experience as a registered massage therapist helped me gain insight into the connection between mental and physical health. I carry that knowledge into my psychotherapy practice by viewing clients holistically, taking into account their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being when collaborating with them to personalize their treatment. I look forward to supporting you on your journey!
